“Shining Our Light All Over the Place” Solo show by Milli Windshuttle

There are luminosities that cut through the murky lens of fear, human lighthouses to help guide us home. They hold torches to uncover what’s been lost or hidden.

Shining Our Light All Over the Place is a collection of paintings by Milli Windshuttle. The “Our” being those we encounter in our lifetime who inspire us to live authentically, holding keys to unlocked parts of ourselves. Those closest to us and also those we experience from afar. Our unseen guides who whisper encouragement through the darkest hours. Friends, artists, activists or strangers online. You reading this may be an “Our” to somebody. The paintings are extracted from the artist’s continued reckoning with connection and isolation. Windshuttle approaches these concepts through figurative representation, obstructed by and existing within abstract realms. The resulting paintings seek to portray light and bodies connecting in negative space, to reflect that despite our incompleteness, we have the power to illuminate one another.

Milli Windshuttle is an oil painter based on the stolen landls of the Wiradjuri and Woi Wurrung people in Narrm. Their practice aspires to bring forth invisible realms into physical spaces, as reflections and reactions to their everyday reality. Through painting Milli is able to visualise optimistic visions of the future and better understand their own relationship to the world.

Shining Our Light All Over the Place by Milli Windshuttle Runs until April 7th
