ABOUT THE FILM:
5 Broken Cameras is a deeply personal first-hand account of life and non-violent resistance in Bil'in, a village in the West Bank surrounded by Israeli settlements. The film shot by Emad Burnat (Palestinian), took five years to complete and five cameras were broken in the process. Burnat captures olive trees being bulldozed, intensifiying protests against the Annexation Wall, and lives lost.
ABOUT THE SERIES:
'Conversations & Screenings' is a collaborative project by Made in Palestine and Unassigned Gallery running March to May (2024), highlighting the power of Palestinian documentary and resistance.
Each event will feature a live Q&A with Palestinian filmmakers, community organisers and activists here in Naarm prior to the screening. Guest speakers announced prior to each screening date. Each event will donate 100% of proceeds to a Palestinian organisation chosen by the guest speakers.
As this event falls within the Holy month of Ramadan, food will not be served until after the screening. Egyptian Hibiscus tea, Zaatar Popcorn and other Middle Eastern treats are included.
