pretty white silk, solo exhibition by Maria Colaidis
‘pretty white silk’ explores my fragility, profound ambivalence and grief around the end of a relationship, while simultaneously forming a new relationship with myself.
The series title is inspired by the nursery web spider. The male will present a female with a gift to show the wish to mate; typically food is presented wrapped in pretty white silk. If the female is enticed by the gift they will mate while she unwraps it, however, often it will be empty and the female has been deceived. This story acts like a metaphor for relationships, as we never truly know what we are going to get once it unravels.
Join us on Friday 10th November to celebrate the opening of Pretty White Silk.
This exhibition runs from 10.11.23-20.11.23 F-M 11-4pm
