ABOUT THE FILM:
Banned by the Israeli Film Board, 'Jenin, Jenin' captures the aftermath of Israel’s massacre of Jenin Refugee Camp (or the Battle of Jenin) in April 2002, during the second intifada. The director interviews survivors within Jenin, sharing their personal recounts with the world. The documentary exposes Israel’s strategic invasion of the West Bank, and the strength of Palestinian hope, resistance, and fight for liberation. The censorship of ‘Jenin, Jenin’ exposes the harsh restrictions on Palestinian freedom of speech. Following the creation of the film, Bakri was prosecuted by the Israeli government and forced to re-edit. On June 23, 2002, the film’s executive producer, Iyad Samoudi, was killed by IOF soldiers.

This screening of 'Jenin, Jenin' will be accompanied by a live conversation with Palestinian activist, Rami Abualsebaa. Rami was born and raised in Jenin Refugee Camp, where 'Jenin, Jenin' takes place. He will share his lived experience as a Palestinian Refugee, especially during the 2002 Battle, with honesty and power.
