Gabe Love is a queer, trans artist working and living in Naarm. They completed a Bachelor of Visual Art at QUT in 2007 and have since refined their style to create saturated, mesmerising work. Inspired by queer culture and forms found in nature, Gabe utilises acrylic, gouache and felt to create irreverent work that transports the viewer into their escapist, colourful world.
‘Your Absence is Loud’ is a personal love letter to their dog Yoda. This body of work was produced over the past year, during an intense period of loss and transition. It was created from the depths of liminal space, to both transform it and create a tether to the raw self with tangible beauty, and sometimes humour.
